John G. Kovacs

AGE: 75 • Perth Amboy

John. G. Kovacs (Yanchee), 75, died Monday Jan. 28, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. He was born in Perth Amboy, and lived in the Perth Amboy/Woodbridge area his entire life. Mr. Kovacs worked as a crane operator for American Smelting and Refining (AS&R) and in security for Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy. He was a member of St. Stephen's / Blessed John Paul II Parish. He was a generous donor of blood to the local blood banks, donating in excess of 8 gallons of blood. He was the son of the late Anthony and Stella Kovacs, and brother of the late Brenda Placca, Gloria Stefanick, and Anthony Jr. He is survived by his wife Helen, his brother Larry, sisters Rose Fleming, Janice Kovacs, Connie Romano, Stella Tkacs, and Marcella Hyen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday Jan. 30, 2013 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at the Zylka Funeral Home 513-515 State St. Perth Amboy NJ. Funeral services will held Thursday, Jan. 31 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 9:45AM. Mass will be at 10:00AM at St. Stephen's Church in Perth Amboy, followed by burial at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Keasbey.
