JOSEPH J. BERGEN, SR.
AGE: 82 PISCATAWAY

Joseph J. Bergen, Sr., 82, of Piscataway, died on Sat., Feb.14, 2009, at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born and raised in Plainfield. Joseph lived in Piscataway for fifty-five years. He worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance in Warren, retiring in 1988. Also, Joseph drove the Piscataway Senior Bus for five years, worked for meals-on-wheels and was a supervisor and school crossing guard for DMS up until his death. Joseph served during WWII with the United States Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Apgar Bergen of sixty years of Piscataway; a daughter, Nancy Bergen of Piscataway; a sister, Mae T. Bowe of Middlesex; a nephew, Frederick J. Bowe of Middlesex; two granddaughters, Kelly E. and Chelsea R. Bergen; and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Pine Bergen. Joseph was predeceased by his son, Joseph J. Bergen, Jr. (1997) and a brother, William Bergen.
A funeral mass will take place on Tues; Feb.17, 2009 at 11AM at St. Matthew's Church in Edison. Entombment at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Friends and relatives may call Monday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM at Sheenan Funeral Home, 233 Dunellen Ave. Dunellen. For further information please visit our website at sheenanfh.com.
