Joseph Knoth Obituary

Joseph P. Knoth

AGE: 61 • Old Bridge

Joseph Patrick Knoth of Old Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Joe will be remembered for his humility, athleticism, determination, resilience, and zest for life. A graduate of J.F. Kennedy High School in Iselin, NJ, he played on the 1971 Kennedy Mustang State and Conference Championship Football Team. Joe was, along with his team, later inducted into the Woodbridge Township Athletic Alumni Association's Hall of Fame. Joe continued his passion for football at Kean College. As a freshman, he was selected for the New Jersey State Athletic Conference All-Star Football Team and was honored as the Kean College Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally, Joe set the precedent as the first Kean College football player to ever sign a professional football contract. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the Canadian Football League. He was inducted into the Kean College Athletic Hall of Fame for his contributions to the football team. Joe brought a passion to life that made him many friends, both professionally and personally. Whether at work, church, or for his sons' sports teams, Joe's positive outlook drove him to embrace any opportunity that needed another pair of hands. Joe lived for people and athletics. He always looked forward to the large family gatherings around Thanksgiving and Christmas. He loved horse racing and Atlantic City. He enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with family and friends. It was a dream come true when he was able to attend the 1987 Super Bowl in California's Rose Bowl to watch his New York Giants win. He was co-founder and co-owner of Middlesex Mason Contractors, INC. for 35 years with his friend and business partner, Jeff Murphy. Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janet Botti and two sons, Matthew and Brian; his mother, Lucy Angela Knoth; and his brothers: Robert (Debbie); Thomas (Lisa), and Chris along with his many nieces and nephews. Joe is predeceased by his father, Robert, and brother, James. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Hwy 79, Morganville, NJ on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 3 to 7pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at 7pm.
