Growing up across the street from HHS, for years I heard Coach Paulino!s voice bellow across the schoolyard into my yard. I couldn't wait to be a Raider and play for him. Playing for him was great. We worked hard and laughed just as hard, as there was always a well-placed, well-delivered, joke, jab, tease, etc. He fostered a strong team experience and taught us well. Thanks for the life lessons and memories Coach. RIP.

My prayers are with you and your family knowing God will comfort you during this very difficult time. Joe was not only my football coach, he was a great man and mentor. He taught us so much aside from the game of football. He taught us to be men! His influence guided me through my career in the Marine Corps and more importantly through life. I am so very thankful we were able to give him a state championship in 1980 which is only a small token compared to what he gave to all of us as a coach and teacher. He will be greatly missed and will live forever in all of our hearts.
God Bless you.

Sue,

I am very sad to hear that Our beloved Joe has passed.  Evelyn and I will make plans to see you perhaps after Christmas. We love you and I am so thankful and blessed to have been one of Joe's disciples.  Shortly after graduating from Hillsborough I had a chance to share some of the great moments and teachings of Joe with my fellow shipmates in the US Navy.  I believe I had the opportunity to share them with you and Joe sometime in 1974.  Our Lord and Savior, Jesus outfitted a man (Joe) to impart some very special and important instructions to young men that they would carry throughout their lives.  As you know Joe made a tremendous difference in our lives and you, Sue gave him a balance of love, affection and sensitivity that paralleled his strength, determination and honor that he instilled in me.  You and Joe carved out a very beautiful place in my heart forever.  A place that I will cherish and visit often.

God bless you with comfort, assurance and peace.

Joe was a great coach and more importantly a great man. He will was selfless and pushed you to be the best you could be. I remember pulling a knucklehead move sophomore year, took down the ceiling in the locker room of the old gym, it all fell. Got my nickname Spiderman from him for that and he also said I played like 1/5 of Dave Butz from the old Red Skins. I can still hear him yelling it to Otto. He will be missed.

I am a second generation Raider. Mr Paulino was my dads football coach, and my guidance counselor. He was one of the main reasons I was able to graduate and was an amazing suport to me and my family. He would always ask my mom how I was doing post graduation and smile and say "Thats my girl, I knew she could do it". Having that kind of support past your high school days was amazing and something I will never forget. He will be missed!
