Kevin McCarthy, 59, of South Amboy died Tuesday August 12, 2014 at home. Born in South Amboy, he lived there all of his life. Before retiring in 2010, he was employed by the Middlesex County Utilities Authority, Sayreville. He was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy. He was a member of Enterprise Snorkel Co. and served the City of South Amboy as Fire Chief in 2000. He was also a member of the Middlesex County and New Jersey Fire Chief's Associations, the Exempt Firemen's Association and the Knights of Columbus Council 426, South Amboy.

Son of the late Frank and Jennie McCarthy, he was also predeceased by his son, Kyle McCarthy in 2010, his brothers, Thomas and Harold McCarthy and his sisters, Frances Lasso and Eileen McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy Zebro McCarthy; 2 daughters, Lisa Humphrey and her husband, Jack of Parlin and Kiersten McCarthy and her boyfriend, Stephen Goldberg of Fords; his grandson, Grady Kyle; a brother, Patrick and his wife, Liz of South Amboy and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at 8:30am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
