Leona D. Sickle

AGE: 77 • Middlesex

Leona D. Sickle, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving and caring family. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she resided in Middlesex most of her life. Leona was a machine operator for Dow Chemicals of Piscataway for 18 years before retiring in 1993 and previously worked at the former RCA in Raritan. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed caring for her yard in Florida where she enjoyed spending time, cooking and caring for her family, especially her dog button and was an avid animal lover. She was known as "Ma Sickle" to all her childrens' friends and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be sadly missed.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Michael J. Sickle, Jr. in 1995; her mother, Louise Turcotte and a brother, William Turcotte. Surviving are her loving children, John, Al, Toni Sickle and Leona Sickle-Prezioso all of Middlesex and her step-son, Michael J. Sickle, III of Arizona; her cherished grandchildren, Emily Sickle, Larissa Mastro, Michael Prezioso and Angela Sickle and her dearest brother and sister, Mark Bosquet and Dolores Butler, both of Melbourne, FL.

Funeral services will begin Tuesday, 9:30 am at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Rd., Middlesex followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Ave., Middlesex. Entombment will follow in Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Morris Ave., Piscataway. Visitation hours will be Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home.
