Maria Cantor Obituary
AGE: 69 • Fair Haven
Maria Cantor, 69, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 25, 2014, after a courageous struggle with Cancer. Maria was born in Brooklyn, NY and enjoyed living in NJ for the later half of her life. She raised five children, loved to cook, garden, and enjoyed working as an artist in many different mediums. Maria earned an Associates degree from Brookdale Community College and both a Bachelors and Masters degree from Monmouth University while actively participating in her kids lives and volunteering at Rumson Fair Haven High School, The Fair Haven Library and Riverview Medical Center. Maria loved traveling, antiquing and was a Master bridge player. She was a member of the Fair Haven Garden Club and long time member of Monmouth Beach Club.
Maria is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Eugene L. Cantor and a son, Stephen. She is survived by a brother, Frank Catalano; children, Karen Arnold and her husband Dan, Adam Cantor, Rebecca Cantor-Chaplin, Dr. Michael Cantor and his wife Sarah, and eight grandchildren that she adored. She passed away peacefully at home, in good company and will be deeply missed.
A memorial gathering will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ on Friday, Feb. 28th from 1 to 3:30pm with a service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Homes for Our Troops, http://www.hfotusa.org/ways_donate. Please visit Maria's memorial website available at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com.

Maria was a fellow gym member. We worked out together, went out for coffee after the gym and sometimes did lunch. She was easy to talk to, a very genuine, caring and loving person. She will be missed not only by me but many other fellow gym members. I will definitely miss our chats and the warmth I felt when spending time with her.
