Matthew M. Winston, age 45 of Sayreville, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017. Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Sayreville most of his life. Matt worked for the Borough of Sayreville Parks Department and was a proud member of Sayreville Fire Department, Engine Company #1. Matty embodied the true definition of friendship. He had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest! His love of music spanned decades and genres, and he wrote The Rock n' Rant by The Reverend Buck Daddy Flash for the Sayreville South Amboy Times. His love of family and friends was immeasurable and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his father Robert Winston and his step-father Eugene Zajac.

Surviving are his beloved wife Elana Schifman Winston, his cherished children Izabella and Nate, his mother Mary Lou Lagoda Zajac, his sister Carrie D'Andrea and her husband Devin, his brothers Jeff Zajac and his wife Teri, Greg Zajac and his wife Michelle, Brian Zajac, his sister Carrie Schick and her husband Michael, his brother Robert Winston Jr., his niece and beloved goddaughter Jordan, his nieces and nephews Nick, Catherine, Zac, Jake, Zack, Ollie and Emme, his father in law and mother in law Arnie and Mindy Schifman, his sister in law Kari Grove and her husband Jon, his brother in law Michael Schifman and his girlfriend Rebecca Young, his step-mother Judy Winston and a host of other relatives and friends who loved and adored him.

Funeral services will be Wednesday 10am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin NJ 08859 with a private cremation to follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm.
