AGE: 60 • Freehold

Patricia Ann Madzin, 60, of Freehold passed away tragically on Saturday, June 25, 2016. She was born in Neptune and raised in Bradley Beach before moving to Freehold in 1979. Along with her husband, Patty was the owner of From the Garden. Prior to that, they owned two Chemical Lawn Care businesses, Guardian Lawn & Turf and Royal Lawn. A parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, her work and her grandchildren were her life.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Valerie Maggio and Georgette Cole. Patty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Andrew "Drew" Madzin; sons, Andrews P. Madzin and his wife, Lina, of Farmingdale, and Philip Madzin of Asbury Park; grandchildren, Emmi, Gio and Nico; sister, Barbara Acera and her husband, Rick, of Brick; mother-in-law, Pauline Madzin of Colts Neck; brother-in-law, Joey Maggio of Brielle; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Madzin, T.J. Maggio and his wife, Donna, and Melinda Maggio.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 9:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, One Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Interment will follow. For those who desire, contributions in memory of Patty may be made to Joshua House Ministries, 34 Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ 07727 or Allaire Community Farm, 2840 Allaire Road, Wall, NJ 07719. I was so saddened to hear of Patty's passing. I had Andrew in my class at Briar Hill and I also knew her from the Boy Scouts...my son Jeff also went to Briar Hill and was a part of the troop. I moved to Farmingdale a little over 4 years and was thrilled when I discovered From the Garden. Patty was such a warm and friendly person and I always enjoy talking with her. We would talk about our love for bees and also our grandchildren. I brought my grandson with me on a few occasions and he loved seeing the bees and also Patty's beautiful truck. I am so shocked and saddened to read of her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family and all who were lucky enough to know her. Patty will surely be missed.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear of the passing of Patty Madzin. I have lived in Freehold since 1986 and recently found the "honey farm" I would stop in here and there and see her there and talk to her. It was always a special trip. I didn't know her name, but I knew her face and her voice and her warm and friendly personality. And her shop. She would come to CentraState where I work for the Farmer's Market. I would tell people about the farm. My sister bought honey from her last August for my nieces wedding. She loved her. Because it was always such a pleasure to enter the store and see her and chat. She just had that natural friendly way about her. The concept of the farm is a phenomenal one. I will miss seeing her there as Im sure everyone who knew her will. She touched many lives . I express my deepest sympathies to her family as well.
