Robert Bukowczyk Obituary
Somerville - Robert J. Bukowczyk, 72, died unexpectedly from pulmonary fibrosis on August 7, 2020 at St. Luke's Gnaden Hutten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton, Pa.
Robert was born in New Brunswick and grew up in the Somerset section of Franklin Township. He lived in Bridgewater for many years before he retired from his law practice and moved to Lehighton, Pa. Robert graduated from Franklin High School in 1965. He then enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later joined the Army Reserve where he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve Adjutant General Corps. After serving in Vietnam, Robert attended Rutgers University where he earned a bachelor's degree. He received his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden. For three decades, he practiced law in Somerville and also served as borough attorney in Raritan Borough. Robert was a former president of the 200 Club of Somerset and a member of the PeopleCare Center for Nonprofits Board of Trustees. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins. Robert will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Kathy, for whom he was her best friend and hero.
Services will be 2:30pm Thursday at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA with full military honors.
Visitation will be 3-7pm Wednesday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville.

i knew Bob for 25 years. He was a loyal and trusted friend, with a devilish sense of humor. I learned much from him, as he was extremely well read and knowledgeable about many subjects. In fact, and I say this with no exaggeration, he was one of the brightest individuals I have ever known. We met monthly for dinner and wonderful, entertaining conversation. I cherished his friendship, and I will miss him greatly.
