Thomas B. Judge Jr., 83, died Monday, March 10, 2014. Tom was born to Thomas B. Judge and Florence (Lynaugh) in Oswego, NY and has lived in New Jersey for the last 50 years. Tom graduated from Saint Vincent Prep in Latrobe, PA, and Pennsylvania State University. He earned his MBA at Seton Hall University. Judge co-founded the Institutional Limited Partners Association, which has grown to a membership of over one hundred institutions. He had been a frequent speaker at private equity and pension fund conferences and seminars worldwide. He retired from AT&T in 1995, the same year he was inducted into the Private Equity Hall of Fame. He is also an honorary Kauffman Fellow and is designated as a "Venture Capital Great" by the National Venture Capital Association and The Harvard Business School. In his retirement, he continued his work in private equity as a consultant for JP Morgan and others, until very recently.

Tom Judge has been active in the private equity industry since 1980; he served as senior advisor to a number of firms in the United States and Europe and was active in varied aspects of private equity. From 1980 to 1995, he managed the AT&T venture capital portfolio for the AT&T Investment Management Corporation. Earlier in his career, he had been involved in all aspects of the administration of employee benefit assets at AT&T for seventeen years.

Tom served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s, and as Mayor of the Borough of Little Silver, New Jersey in the early 1970s. He spent his personal time with his family, and traveling to his favorite destinations in Maine, Florida and "Wonderland" in North Beach, Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara; his friend, Ellen Catlin; his sisters, Jackie Seuffert and Connie Judge; his son, Thomas B. Judge III of Shrewsbury; his daughters, Lauren Bartkus and her husband Brian of Bedford, MA, Linda Ferrogine and her husband Jim of Shrewsbury, NJ, and Dana Farabaugh and her husband Jay of Sudbury, MA. He is also survived by his beloved 10 grandchildren, Taylor, Anne, Brooke, Jimmy, Tommy, Kate, Casey, David, Jill and Nick.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Thompson Funeral Home in Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company & Emergency Medical Services at www.surfcityfire.org.
