Timothy Coffey Obituary
Highland Park - Timothy Graham Coffey died peacefully at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on February 19, 2018.
He was born in Kalimpong, Bengal, India in 1931. Son of Thomas Malo Coffey, last Conservator of the Imperial Forest of Bengal and Isobel Graham Coffey, daughter of Dr. John Anderson Graham founder of Dr. Graham's Homes in Kalimpong, a school for abandoned children.
Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen Larmor Coffey and brother David Coffey.
Survived by his wife Aileen Coffey, his brother Patrick Coffey, his children; Jennifer Coffey Smith (Casey), Jacqueline Coffey Holz (Richard), Paul Coffey (Lisa), stepdaughters; Alexandra Griffin (Jerome), Siobhan Faison (Seth), Francesca Dauerty (David), and grandchildren; Amanda, Graham, Brian, Aidan, Flynn, Niall, Seneca, Sasha, Lane, Siobhan, and Jason.
Those wishing to pay their respects may come to Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home at 17 South Adelaide Avenue, Highland Park, NJ on Saturday, February 24, 2018 between 10:30am and noon.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to:
Dr. Graham's Homes, The Nature Conservancy and Doctors Without Borders.

I was so sorry to learn of Tim’s passing. He has been a friend of long-standing. We worked together at Rutgers University, and shared some good times. I looked up to him as a mentor, and he edited some of my work. He and Aileen were wonderful hosts, very helpful when possible, and tolerant of their guests' wishes and foibles. He was also a fine writer and compiler and lover of nature. I treasure my copy of The History and Folklore of North American Wildflowers. I’m so glad to have been able to see him again just five years ago. He was bothered then by his health problems, but his pleasant good humour had not changed. I shall miss him.

I just learned of Tim's passing. He and I worked together many years ago in New Jersey. He was a lovely, lovely man; always full of grace, humor, and the utmost kindness. I have thought of him often (my kids and I had moved away), and I was so sad I had not kept in touch. Thank you for the pictures of Tim and the family. They show a life well lived, a man well loved.

Dear Aileen and all,
I'm so, so sorry to hear your sad news. What a wonderful, dear man Tim was! I remember that wise, ironic, but endlessly compassionate glint in his eye; even last year when he knew how compromised his memory was, he manifested an amazing grace in the way he endeavored to make his problem easier for others to deal with.
I do hope, Aileen, that there are people with you who will comfort you as much as you've comforted so many.
