Warren William Messerschmidt

AGE: 97 • Tinton Falls

Warren William Messerschmidt, 97, from Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ (formerly from Matawan, NJ) passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017. Warren was born on September 13, 1919 in Jersey City, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Messerschmidt.

He was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and Rutgers University. Warren started his career with Foster Wheeler in Carteret. During World War II, Warren enlisted in the Navy where he served in Panama. Upon his return, he joined NJ Bell Telephone Company working his way up from repairman into commercial management. Heretired after 34 years and then joined Teldata as VP of Operations. He was active in his local community, serving as President of the both the Keyport Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He also served as the Secretary of the Kiwanis Club from 1960 to 1976.

Warren's greatest joy was his family. He took particular pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to share in their lives and their accomplishments. He enjoyed boating, tinkering around the home and was always ready to assist his friends and family. But Warren will undoubtedly be best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was the life of the party and always ready with a joke or witty comment. All who met him, left with a smile.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elizabeth"Betty" (Narr) Messerschmidt; daughter, Linda Morse; son, Warren William "Bill" Messerschmidt, Jr. (Joanne); 4 grandchildren, Kelly Speakman (Tom), Kristi Daggett (Chris), Warren William "Billy" Messerschmidt III (Marissa), and Emily Messerschmidt; great grandchildren, Megan Speakman, Will Speakman, Avery Daggett and Abigail Daggett. Brothers; Arthur Krumm, Edward Fischerand Robert Messerschmidt; nieces Jennifer Bollenbach andLiese DeBona (Tony); nephews Jeff Messerschmidt and George Newberry (Jeanne) and 5 great nieces and nephews plus 1 great, great niece also survive him. Warren was predeceased by his brother Henry Messerschmidt;stepmother Louise (Triebel) Messerschmidt; nephew,Gordon Messerschmidt and sisters-in law, Doris McLaren, Anne Messerschmidt and Adelaide Krumm.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to remember Warren on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Seabrook Village, 3000 Essex Road

I remember Mr. Messerschmidt through my Dad, Joseph Mendres, from N.J. Bell and the Kiwanis Club which they were both part of. I am so sorry to hear about his passing, he was always such a gentleman. My thoughts are with you all.
