Jean Luciano

Jean Luciano Jean Luciano, age 87, of Port Royal Plantation, Hilton Head Island, formerly of Woodcliff Lake, N.J., passed away peacefully on October 31, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The daughter of Florence and Frank Porter, Jean was born in Union City, N.J. She graduated from Bergen Junior College in 1947 where she met her husband of 63 years, Dan Luciano. Jean received her B.A. degree in education from Syracuse University in 1949. Jean began her teaching career in Westwood, N.J. and continued teaching at Wandell School in Saddle River, N.J. where she retired after 20 years. Jean was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, as well as Port Royal Plantation Ladies 9-holers. She enjoyed playing bridge, attending water aerobics and celebrating with the birthday group. With a generous and compassionate heart, paired with an incomparable memory, she always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and any occasion with a greeting card to be received in the mail by many. Jean loved to laugh and entertain friends. She had a strong faith in God and believed in the essential goodness of the world, which she passed on to all. Jean is survived by her husband Dan and daughters, Debbie Catalioto, Sandi Schrettner, and Amy Luciano-Heinrich, and three grandchildren, Martin Catalioto, Kimberly Schrettner, and Daniella Castillo. Jean's family would like to convey that she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, known for her kind and giving heart and warm smile. She was always quick to help and encourage her family and friends in endless ways. No one will ever be able to replace her. She was truly a gift from God and touched each of our lives in a special way. She will remain in our hearts forever. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on Sunday November 16 at 3:00 P.M.
