GALLIPOLIS FERRY — Dallas M. Wright, 71, of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., died Thursday, December 19, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Gallipolis Ferry.
He was born October 7, 1942, in Ashton, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph Anderson Wright and Elsie (Hawthorne) Wright.
Dallas was a member of the Christian Valley Church of Christ in Glenwood, W.Va., and retired from American Car and Foundry Industries in Huntington. He was a man devoted to his entire family, and was an avid hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Wright; and brothers, Wayne, Dorcie, Roger Dale, and Denver Wright.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Evelyn E. (Martin) Wright, whom on December 21, 2013, would have celebrated 51 years of marriage; a daughter, Kathy (James) Bowser of Southside, W.Va.; one son, Keith (Lorrie) Wright of Gallipolis Ferry; and two grandchildren, Emma Wright and Levi Wright both of Gallipolis Ferry. Also, surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Mayse of Apple Grove, W.Va., Margie Bond of Saucier, Mississippi, and Mary Dayonez McGowan of Point Pleasant; a brother, Ronnie (Beulah) Wright of Ashton; and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Martin and Roy (Sue) Martin of Gallipolis Ferry.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Ronnie Wright and Steve Templeton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery at Apple Grove. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
