POINT PLEASANT — James A. "Jim" Capehart, 78, of Point Pleasant, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Frank Howard Capehart Jr. and Janet (Slater) Capehart.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant and was actively involved with the community through his activities with the Lions Club, Eastern Star, Masons and Heights United Methodist Church, where he served as choir director. Jim was a retired mill operator from Kaiser Aluminum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Margi" A. Capehart; a daughter, Valerie Lynn Capehart; and one brother, William R. Capehart.
Jim is survived by his son, James Capehart II, of Columbus, Ohio; daughter Pamela (Joe) Cullen, of Leon; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; brother Frank Howard (Linda) Capehart III, of Point Pleasant; sister-in-law Sonja Capehart, of Florida; Jim's longtime special friend, Golda Hess, and her daughter, Robin, of Point Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Heights United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Charles Marker officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio. The family will receive friends between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that expressions of sympathy be made in Jim's name to Pleasant Valley Home Health and Hospice, 1011 Viand St., Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
