NEW HAVEN — Mary Helen Arnold, 97, of New Haven, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017, at her home. She was born on Feb. 19, 1920, in Washington Bottom, West Virginia, daughter of the late Guy Watson and Dena Brock Watson.
She was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church and a 77 year member of Eastern Star. Mary was an avid booster for both the Wahama Athletic and Band Boosters.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Delma) Arnold of New Haven; her grandchildren, Jeff (Cheryl) Arnold of New Haven, Gerald "Butch" Arnold of Columbus, Ohio, John (Kim) VanMeter of Gallipolis, Terry (Lisa) VanMeter of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Todd (Chris) VanMeter of Trenton, Ohio and Kelly (Eric) Hess of Rocky River, Ohio; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her special caregivers, Valerie, Joyce, Judy, Cindy, Pat, Linda and Beth; and special nephew, Bill (Jackie) Watson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Arnold; daughter, Judy VanMeter; brother, James Watson; and sisters, Margaret Homman and Pauline Beckwith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at noon with Pastor Claudia Thomas officiating at Anderson Funeral Home in New Haven. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with Eastern Star service at 7:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to the New Haven United Methodist Church PO Box 327, New Haven, WV 25265.
