GALLIPOLIS FERRY — Stephen Russell Templeton, 71, of Gallipolis Ferry, went home to be with his Lord Monday, September 5, 2016, at home.
He was born March 11, 1945, in Huntington, a son of the late John Russell Templeton and Jewel Gladys (McCoy) Templeton. Steve was a member of the Christian Valley Church of Christ in Glenwood, and United Steel Workers Local 644 of Apple Grove. He was a graduate of Hannan High School Class of 1963 and retired in 1999 with 35 years service from Shell Chemical.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Edward Templeton; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Legg.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay (Roberts) Templeton of Gallipolis Ferry; two sons, Timothy L. (Shelia) Templeton of Gallipolis Ferry and Craig R. Templeton and companion Yvonne of Point Pleasant; eight grandchildren, T.J. (Erica) Templeton, Tiffany (Mike) Oberley, Joshua Templeton, Jacob Templeton, Ashley (Marco) Geathers, Nicholas Templeton, Stephen Templeton and fiancée Hannah and Taylor Templeton and fiancée Gabe; one step grandson, Michael Burris; and four great grandchildren, Taylor Hammond, Landon Hammond-Templeton, Noah Oberley and Timmy Templeton. Also surviving are one sister, Jane Legg of Point Pleasant; and former daughters-in-law, Cara Hicks of Circleville, Ohio and Charlene Templeton of Pomeroy, Ohio.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Minister Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
