Peggy Lee Wheatley

1928 - 2018

CAMBRIDGE - Peggy Lee Wheatley, 89, of Cambridge, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, Jan. 11, 2018, at Chesapeake Woods Center.
She was born in Cambridge on Jan. 25, 1928, and was two weeks shy of her 90th birthday.
Peggy was the granddaughter of the late Annie and Gordy Tall who raised her. She was the daughter of the late Brice Tall and Blanche Cook.
On Oct. 6, 1979, Peggy married Donald C. Wheatley and they made their home in Cambridge. Mr. Wheatley died Jan. 17, 2007.
Peggy worked in retail for a number of years, but her real career consisted of being a caregiver to her family when she was needed. Family was everything to her and she enjoyed their company when they would come to visit. Her grandchildren whom she dearly loved held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chesapeake Woods Center for the excellent care given to Peggy during her stay.
Surviving her are two grandchildren: Thomas O. Lantz IV; Christy S. Lantz; daughter-in-law, Carol Merkley; niece, Barbara Ann Tall; nephew, Rick Tall; and special friends, Joyce and Jimmy Newcomb.
Preceding her in death besides her grandparents and parents, was a son, Thomas O. Lantz III; brothers: Elbert and Harold Tall.
Private interment will take place at Dorchester Memorial Park. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peggy's name can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
