Joyce Julia Ann Hynson, affectionately known as "Joyce Ann", of
Chestertown, MD, departed this life peacefully on March 25, 2025. She transitioned at home with loved ones by her side. She was 79 years old. Joyce Ann was born June 22, 1945, in
Chestertown, MD to the late George A. Hynson Sr. and Jeannette V. Hynson. She grew up in Worton Point, where she attended elementary school at the building now known as the historical "African American School House". She continued her education at Henry Highland Garnett School. Joyce was employed by the Campbell Soup Co. for 20 years. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and enjoyed worshiping at various local churches. Joyce especially enjoyed fellowship at Asbury John Wesley Church in Millington, MD. When unable to physically attend services, she received the word of God through specific television ministries. Joyce Ann enjoyed shopping and spending "her children's money". She also enjoyed going on lunch dates with friends and listening to Al Green. A highlight for her was attending a Barry White concert and getting to meet a young R&B singer named Brandy. She was an avid shopper with QVC, enjoyed gardening, and spending time talking on the phone with friends. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. Hynson Sr. and Jeanette V. Hynson; a sister, Maureen Hynson; a brother, George A. Hynson Jr., and grandson Michael W. Clothier Jr. Joyce was a loving mother and leaves to honor her memory and legacy, daughters Shelley R. Clothier (Michael), Sherise L. Kennard (Buck), and son Corey E. Brown. In addition, she leaves 2 brothers, Maurice Hynson, Ronald Hynson (Kathy); a sister Christine Williams and sister-in-law Gladys Hynson; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Butler, Shannon Kennard, Shanna Kennard, and Cameron Brown; 3 great-grandchildren, Xavier Young, Micaela Clothier, and Heiress Alsup. She also leaves behind an incredibly special aunt, Mabel Sanabria, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We are honoring and respecting our mother's wishes by having a private graveside ceremony. We ask that you keep her memory near and dear to your hearts. The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to everyone for all the prayers, thoughtful words, and acts of kindness during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please consider contributing to the
American Cancer Society.
