Robert House Obituary

Robert Joseph House of Chestertown, MD passed away on October 28, 2025 at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. He was 89 years old.

He was born in Long Island, NY on March 18, 1936, the son of the late William House and Frances (Penny) House. He attended Notre Dame for his entire education, eventually earning his Juris Doctorate degree. He married Donna Snedeker in 1968. Robert worked as an attorney at Westerbeke, Fenster and House Attorneys at Law in New York before becoming a judge with the state of New York until his retirement.

He and Donna moved permanently to their summer home in Chestertown, MD in the early 1990s. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Rock Hall, where he also served as the sexton of the church cemetery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Bradford Council and Fr. Lutz Assembly where he served as a trustee. He was very proud to be a fourth degree Knight. He was also a member of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, where he served on the Board of Directors.

Robert enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. He was a history buff and particularly enjoyed shopping at yard sales and antique stores, looking to add to his military memorabilia collection.

In addition to his wife of over 50 years, Donna House, he is survived by a son, Sean Snedeker House of CA; daughter, Kerry House Cooke of Easton, PA; sister, Margee House Plummer; brother, William House, Jr. of Wakefield, MA; and two grandchildren, Benjamin C. Cooke and Grace Eleanor-Lee Cooke.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company at P.O. Box 577, Rock Hall, MD 21661.
