Verona Palatinus

1933 - 2025

Verona Palatinus, of Chestertown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 92.

Verona was born on January 1, 1933, in Toba, Serbia, to the late Paul and Rosalia Korom. After her school years, she built a life rooted in hard work and care for others. She immigrated to the United States with her family on August 24, 1968 from Europe and spent time working as a piece worker with Mohawk Devices and later as a housekeeper at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

On January 24, 1954, Verona married Sandor Palatinus, with whom she shared 39 devoted years until his passing in 1993. Their life together was filled with love, family, and the traditions they carried from their heritage.

Verona was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Frank, Steven, Paul, and Alex Korom, and her grandson James Palatinus.

She leaves behind a family who adored her: her daughter Rosemary Charles of Doylestown, PA, and her son Nandor "Fred" Palatinus (Susan), also of Doylestown. She was a beloved grandmother to Joe Goetz (Liza) of Chestertown, MD, and Andrew Palatinus of Doylestown, PA; a proud great-grandmother to Elizabeth Frey (Joshua) and William Goetz, both of Chestertown; and a joyful great-great-grandmother to Carley and Joshua. Verona is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Vajda and Theresa Bali, both of South Plainfield, NJ, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished her.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Doylestown Cemetery, 215 E. Court Street, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
