Doris Josephine Healy

1932 - 2018

STEVENSVILLE - Doris Josephine Healy of Stevensville, MD, passed away on May 14, 2018, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 86.
Born on May 5, 1932, in Reno, NM, the daughter of the late George and Stella Bustas DuPree. In September 1962, she married Robert Healy in Sacramento, CA, where they resided until 1964 when Mr. Healy transferred to Maryland for his job. They resided over the years in Enfield, CT; Charlotte, NC; and Richmond, VA. Doris served as a property manager while at each of these cities and managed as many as 1,000 units at a time.
She retired at the age of 70 in 2002 from managing properties in Richmond, VA, and with her husband they moved to Stevensville, MD, to be close to family. Doris was a fair businesswoman that believed in handling things herself. Her toolbox always included duct tape, wire, superglue, hammer, nails, and a screwdriver to fix almost anything.
Doris spent her retirement years enjoying spending time with her family. Feeding the blue birds was a very important daily chore and taking care of all of the plants both inside and outside of her home.
Doris is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Healy; daughters: Diane Xander, of Stevensville, MD; Kathleen Young and her husband Michael, of Front Royal, VA; grandchildren: Connor Young, Dagen Young, Christopher Xander, Jasen Xander and his wife Jennifer; sisters: Viola Beck and Lorraine Goodwin, both of Sacramento, CA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Dorothy DemJim in March 2011; and her son-in-law, Mark Xander in April 2011.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. A Mass will be held on Thursday, May 24, 11 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Chester, MD.
