Evelyn Colonna "Evie" Garcia

1936 - 2025

CHESTER: Evelyn (Evie) Garcia (nee Colonna), 89, died October 16, 2025, at home. She was born September 12, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Giuseppe Pasquale Colonna and Theresa (Guido) Colonna.

Evie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roberto Sioson Garcia; son Robert C. (Tracey) Garcia of Frederick, MD; daughters Rebecca E. Garcia and Melissa J. Garcia (Doug Campbell) of Chester, MD; grandchildren Teresina O. (Mackenzie) Egas Pons of Alpharetta, GA, Makenna Jane Garcia Egas of Baltimore, MD, Evan John Villano and Francesca Evelyn Villano, both of Chester, MD; sister Julia Colonna, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Joseph Eugene Colonna.

She was a 1954 Patterson Park High School graduate and went on to earn a Nursing degree from Church Home and Hospital in Baltimore. She began working as a nurse at Church Home in 1957, moved on to be Head Nurse of the Pediatric Surgery ward at Johns Hopkins Hospital until 1960, and later worked as the office manager for several medical offices in Randallstown before becoming the office manager for Garcia and Almogela, MD PA until she retired in 1995.

Evie was always in the kitchen where she could indulge in her love of cooking, baking, and entertaining. She also loved to knit and sing and sang in her choir at Kent Island Methodist Church and Queen Anne's County Chorale. Evie and Bert traveled extensively, making memories together all over the world.
