Jane Schelberg Obituary

Jane Booker Schelberg of Queenstown passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2021 at her home. Born on July 1, 1928 to the late James H. Booker of Queenstown and Blanche Moore Booker, she was 92 years old.

Jane graduated from Centreville High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware. She went on to become a high school English teacher for Queen Anne's County schools. After moving to Annapolis with her family, she later worked as an editor for the Maryland State legislature, a job that she loved and where she made many long lasting friendships. Jane volunteered with the Women's Auxiliary at

Anne Arundel General Hospital (the "Pink Ladies") and was also one of the founding members and President of the Great Meadow Garden Club.

After retiring to the Eastern Shore, Jane began her career as an antique dealer with shops in three locations. She spent many happy days with her husband, Charles, traveling to auctions and antique shows in pursuit of hidden treasures. Jane especially loved spending time at the beach with her family and friends and enjoyed many memorable trips with her husband. Her favorite pastime though was spending time on the front porch with Charles and surrounded by her children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. "Grammy" will be greatly missed by all who adored her.

Jane is survived by her son Charles B. Schelberg (Allison) of Georgia, her three daughters Meredith S. Boyle (P.J.) of Towson, Kathryn S. Townshend (David) of Arlington, Blanche "Bibi" Schelberg of Centreville, nine grandchildren Matthew L. Schelberg (Emily), James H. Schelberg, Allie T. Pena (Enrique), Peter C P Boyle, Charles N. Townshend, Nicholas D. Schelberg, Kathryn M. Diseroad, Jane K. Townshend, Caroline E. Boyle, and three great grandchildren August Schelberg, Camille Pena, and Charles Pena.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased in death by her late husband, Charles L. Schelberg. They were married for 59 years.

Private services for Jane will be held at the Old Wye Church. Online condolences can be made to www.fhnfuneralhome.com.
