Leslie Mitchel "Les" Kaldor

1932 - 2024

Leslie Mitchel Kaldor, 91, a resident of Oyster Cove in Grasonville, passed away on April 11, 2024.

Leslie was born in Saint Louis, the son of Frank and Rose Koenig Kaldor. He graduated from Washington University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

After two years in the U. S. Army, Leslie began a 30-year career working in the U.S. Navy Marine Engineering Laboratory in Annapolis Md, where he received many awards and thanks for the "value, originality and ingenuity" of his work for the Naval Sea Systems Command. One example of the many contributions was the development of a piping Alloy used on the SSN submarine.

In his spare time, Les loved playing bridge. He was a member of the Severna Park Bridge Club, and he played there regularly and was also well-known in many other bridge clubs.

Leslie is survived by his wife, Sylvia Kaldor, his daughter, Connie Kaldor, his sister, Lorraine Elbein, his nephew, Adam Elbein and three nieces, Tracey Elbein, Dana McMurtry and Brooke Koenig. Les was preceded in death by his son, Steven Kaldor.
