Susan Jane Crabb, 72, formerly of Grasonville on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, died peacefully on September 10, 2025 at The Charleston Senior Living Community in Waldorf, MD after too many years of living with early onset dementia.
Susan was born on December 19, 1952 in Bethesda, MD and preceded in death by her parents Willard W. Crabb and Margaret (Cavanagh) Crabb. She is survived by her brother, Robert P. Crabb (Cheryl Massey) of Lewes, DE and her sister, Nancy L. Goff of Hudson Falls, NY. She is also survived by 6 nephews: Scott Crabb (Tara), Jerry Crabb (Cindy), Garrett Crabb, David Goff (Jackie) Daniel Goff (Christi) and Patrick Goff (Sara) and many great-nieces and nephews.
Susan grew up in Suitland, MD. She graduated in 1971 from St. Anne's High School in Arlington Heights, MA. Susan later earned an Associate Arts Degree from Chesapeake Community College.
Susan served two tours of duty with the US Army (Sept. 1979-Dec. 1982 & Jan. 1973-Jan.1976) and was honorably discharged.
Susan spent most all her life helping others, working as a health aide in various settings but the most meaningful work for Susan was caring for fellow Veterans at the Cambridge Veterans Outpatient Clinic. Susan also supported activities of The American Legion. Susan was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church on Kent Island participating in Altar Guild, the Choir and the Youth Group. Susan loved music and loved to dance. We sometimes joked - she may have lost her memory - but she never lost her rhythm!
Next to her family and friends - and perhaps more so - Susan loved all sizes and shapes of animals - most especially her beloved cats. Susan's love for animals led her to volunteer many hours at various shelters caring for cats and dogs.
A special note of gratitude to Susan's lifelong friend - Anita Bartolomeo Truban - who traveled long and far to visit Susan before, during and into the end of Susan's illness. Anita, thank you for your faithfulness to Susan.
A brief service will be held on October 1st at 12:00 noon in the Chapel at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery followed by her placement in the Columbarium where Susan will rest in peace among her fellow veterans.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Baywater Animal Rescue either online at:
