David Grotts Obituary

David Clark Grotts
September 17, 1954 - April 2, 2025
Our Husband, Father, Papa, and friend, David "Dave" Grotts passed away unexpectedly in his home on April 2, 2025 after a brief illness.
Dave was born in Paris, France on September 17, 1954 to John and Elizabeth Grotts. After moving to Virginia at age five, and then to Sierra Vista, AZ in his early teens, he met the love of his life, Laura Moraign, and they married on December 20, 1976. They added three beautiful daughters to their family, Christine, Jennifer, and Heather. Dave was Papa to five amazing grandkids, Leif, Seth, Bryson, Mikenna, and Ace. He also was the proud great grandfather to Ryker and Haven.
Dave was a pastor early in his adulthood, then switched to plumbing for the last 30 years of his life and he excelled at both careers. He loved his customers and was always willing to work for free if someone was in need.
Dave was a man who loved God and his family. He didn't know the word "no" and never met a person he didn't like. Dave loved watching his drag and funny car races, jamming on his many guitars to classic rock, spending time in the backyard bird watching and gardening his tomatoes, road trips with Laura, star gazing with Christine, hard rock concerts with Jennifer and Heather, and his little dog, Princess Leah.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Laura; daughters, Christine, Jennifer and Heather; grandsons, Leif, Seth, Bryson and Ace; and great grandchildren, Ryker and Haven. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Grotts; siblings, Terry and Tina (who passed four days before Dave); and his granddaughter, Mikenna Grace.
Dave always had a minute to listen to you, tell a joke, or share a memory. He always had time for his family and friends. He lived with a huge heart full of love for everyone. David was a man that everyone genuinely loved and will truly be missed. We love you!

Dave was an awesome guy. Always had time to help us with our plumbing issues, which usually were drain lines clogged, or tree roots causing issues. Dave always had time to visit and his prices for his services were so very reasonable and were a blessing to many folks. We are sorry to hear of his passing. There's no one like Dave. Our sincere condolences to all the family. Like I said, he was an awesome guy, very kind, and had a gentle spirit... and will be missed by this community, and our family. ~ Lisa & Leonard Taylor

Oh I'm so sorry to learn of Dave's passing. I'm not surprised that earlier in life he was a pastor. When I would contact him about a plumbing issue, I could just feel like the work he was doing for me was a calling, a way of service. He had a wonderful demeanor, and I enjoyed talking about the early days of Sierra Vista with him. My deepest condolences to his family. I can just imagine how many lives he touched with his gentle spirit.
