Harry Speakman Obituary
Harry, better known as Hank, enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He returned to Virginia upon discharge where he worked various jobs while at the same time applying to enter Civil Service. He had a long and interesting career supporting our military forces all over the globe through his work in Contract Management. He received the award of Superior Civilian Service upon retirement. He loved fishing for salmon and halibut and sharing his bounty with friends and family. Many summers the cabin in Alaska saw visitors who were also introduced to his favorite sport. Our travels took us to many wonderful places all over Europe and North, Central and South America. Another favorite pastime was cooking his many fish dishes; his Scotch Smoked Salmon won a blue ribbon at the Alaska State Fair in Nilichik, Alaska.
He will be interred at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery December 12, 2025 at 10 a.m. followed by a gathering at 11 a.m. for family and friends at the Sierra Vista Golf Center at 11 a.m.

Hank was my favorite brother (I told the other three the same thing!). On the day he was born, our mother was in the wild blackberry patch at Glass, Gloucester Co., VA. When she realized birth was imminent, she dispatched her oldest son, Bill, to call the country doctor. All six of us were born at home. My worldly best friend, age 7, and I, a year younger, watched as Doc Clements arrived with his well worn black leather satchel. Soon after we heard a baby crying. We were sure that baby came in that leather bag. "Miss Georgia" was on hand to help the new mother and baby.
