Beardstown - Barbara Ann Kuhlmann, 92 of Beardstown, died Saturday, July 13, 2024 at her home.
She was born October 22, 1931 in Beardstown, the daughter of Henry L. and Edna Marie Acker Halblaub. She married Harold George Kuhlmann of March 25, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown.
She is survived by her husband Harold Kuhlmann of Beardstown; three children, daughter Nancy Dennis (husband Steve) of Danvers and their son Jason Whitaker (wife Amy) of San Antonio, TX, and their children Samuel, Ela, and Molly Whitaker, daughter Linda Shipman (husband Dirk) of Normal, and son Ron Kuhlmann (wife Jenni) of Beardstown and their children Chad Kuhlmann (wife Jamie) of Auburn and their children Addy and Austin Kuhlmann, Joe Kuhlmann (wife Ashley) of Jacksonville and their children Jaxson and Jaylee Kuhlmann, Ashley Eckert (husband Rich) of Beardstown and their children Reese, Millie, and Rex Eckert, and Kelsie Thompson (husband Jonathan) of Bloomington and their children Kay, Barrett, and Bennett Thompson with one arriving soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret Halblaub Robertson, and her brother Howard L. Halblaub.
Mrs. Kuhlmann graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1949. Prior to her 73-year marriage, she worked for a few years at Dr. Charles office and CIPS in Beardstown. Later she spent 15 years working with Dr. Davidsmeyer DDS and then with Kline Department Store. Barbara was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School, and was a founding volunteer for Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir and for many other events. Barbara enjoyed the beauty of nature, reading, playing Bridge, and watching the Chicago Cubs. Her faith and family were most important in her life. She attended countless event and activities for her children and grandchildren. She was loved by many and leaves behind a legacy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 5-7:30 PM Friday at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown.
