Bernice L. Bergschneider
Franklin - Bernice L. Bergschneider, 89, of Franklin passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born September 4, 1935 in Alexander the daughter of Fred E. and Elizabeth Ridder Hermes. She married Ed Bergschneider on February 2, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin and he survives.
She is also survived by her children, Beverly Watson of Franklin, Mike (Stephanie) Bergschneider, Tony (Dana) Bergschneider and Karen Walker all of Jacksonville, Alice (Mark) Greenwood and Don (LeAnn) Bergschneider both of Franklin and Sara (Bruce) Roegge and Jennifer (Jody) Claussen both of Jacksonville; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian DeGroot, Elizabeth "Betty" Bourn and Christine (Joe) Lawless all of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Jackie Hermes of New Berlin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Elizabeth Bergschneider; three brothers, Bernard, Leo, and Richard "Dick" Hermes; one sister, Rosemary Miller; one sister-in-law, Sally O'Meara; and four brothers-in-law, Albert Miller, James Sellars, Harry Bourn, and Howard DeGroot.
Mrs. Bergschneider was a devoted wife and mother who along with her husband owned and operated Franklin Elevator for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin and the Sacred Heart Alter Society. She loved spending time with her family and her coffee and bunco groups. She appreciated the beauty of nature and enjoyed watching birds and flowers. She also enjoyed gardening and baking .
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A prayer service will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Prairieland United Way or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
