David McNeely Obituary
Lynnville - David M. McNeely, 72, of Lynnville, IL, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born October 28, 1949, in Jacksonville, the son of Jack and Virginia (Hemphill) McNeely, and they preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Anthony McNeely of Jacksonville and Lesley McNeely of Waverly; companion: Barbara Adams of Jacksonville; siblings: Marcia (Michael) Gatens of Maryville, IL; Mark (Shelia) McNeely of Knoxville, TN; Joel (Kathleen) McNeely of Jacksonville; and one grandchild: Carter McNeely of Jacksonville.
David was the mayor of Lynnville. He engaged in farming the family land for over 50 years. David was also employed at the Post Office in Jacksonville for over 15 years. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan who loved the St. Louis Cardinals and UFC fights. When David wasn't farming or helping build houses, you could catch him shooting archery or playing fast-pitch softball for the Redlegs team. Above all else, David was a loving companion, father, brother and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial following at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Morgan County 4-H. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
