David Petefish Obituary

David H. Petefish
Literberry - David H. Petefish, 82, of Literberry, IL, died Thursday August 25, 2022, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 7, 1939, in Jacksonville, the son of Dewey and Esther Houston Petefish. He married Carolyn K. Petefish on Sept. 12, 1964, in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death July 21, 2022.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Lakamp of New Berlin; one son, Michael (Angela) Petefish of Literberry; seven grandchildren, Kalie Petefish and Kyler Petefish, both of Jacksonville, Drew Lakamp of Lincoln, NE, Korie Petefish of Springfield, Erin Lakamp of College Station, TX, and Jordan (Jacob) Lindgren and Justin Gill, both of Jacksonville; and one sister, Joanne (Tom) Moore of Literberry. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Margaret Kathryn Smith (surviving husband, Richard C. Smith of Jacksonville).
Mr. Petefish was a 1957 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in South Korea. He retired after many years of farming in the Literberry area. Over the years, he served on the Morgan Co. Fair Association Board of Directors, the Arcadia Cemetery Board, and was a member of Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau. He found the most joy in traveling to basketball games and fairs over the years with his children. In his later years rodeos, cattle shows, horse shows, and various other activities of his grandchildren filled his days.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Literberry Christian Church. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.
