Dickie Monroe Brockhouse
Winchester - Dickie Monroe Brockhouse, 84, of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born on June 29, 1941, in Bluffs, IL, the son of William A. and Madelyn M. Pile Brockhouse.
Dickie was a kind-hearted, hardworking man, and devote Lutheran who deeply loved his family and community. He was known for his warm smile and laughter, strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He had a passion for woodworking, often spending hours in his shop creating beautiful, handcrafted pieces for family and friends.
He also loved to travel and found great joy in exploring new places and experiencing the beauty of the world with those closest to him.
Surviving are his children, Bret (Christy) King of San Tan Valley, AZ, Deanna (Kun Jo) Jung of Anaheim, CA, and Tian Scheer of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by his siblings, Larry, Mike, Donnie Brockhouse, and Sandy (Don) Hankins, all of Winchester; six beloved grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Brockhouse, his parents and several siblings: Linda Swartz, Barbara Lawson, Russ Brockhouse, Billie Brockhouse, Rex Brockhouse, Jerry Brockhouse, and Ronnie Rowe.
Dickie was an Elder and member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Before retirement, he was employed by Freesen Inc. in Bluffs as a superintendent. Prior to that, he worked as a skilled and dependable truck driver, a role he took great pride in.
He was also a proud member of the Elks in Jacksonville, where he built many lasting friendships over the years.
Dickie will be remembered for his gentle nature, strong work ethic, and the love he poured into his family, friends, and passions. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester.
