Eileen Sparrow Obituary
She was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Julius and Marie Blane Devarose. She married John C. Sparrow on Jan. 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2007.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra (Michael) Moffett of Springfield, and Ava Sparrow and Joanna Sparrow, both of Jacksonville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Butch (Karen) Devarose of Springfield. She was preceded in death by one son, John Julius Sparrow; one daughter, Tina Sparrow Christison; two great-grandsons, Trenton Jeffrey Williams and Logan Kyle Brown; and one sister, Ava Seymour.
Mrs. Sparrow had worked many years at Bound to Stay Bound, and then for Hertzberg New Method. She then worked for Lee Sullivan for 22 years. Eileen enjoyed crocheting and sewing, and she loved the St. Louis Cardinals. She, with her husband, especially enjoyed coaching their daughters in softball and roller derby.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The family will meet friends 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Ava Sparrow. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.

Eileen was a special person. The other night I used a quilt that she made for Kellie's room. I still have the quilt that she finished, the quilt that Kellie was making before she was killed. She was so thoughtful and so soft spoken. She is thought of often.

I have so many memories of Eileen. She was a special, quiet person. I love the quilt she finished for me that Kellie, our daughter, was making before she was killed. I also have the quilt she made for me one Christmas in Kellie's bedroom on a quilt stand. She is missed.

My prayers are with Eileen's family. Eileen was very special to me. She completed a quilt that our Kellie was making before she was killed in l984. Eileen also made me a quilt that I have in what was Kellie's bedroom. She was a quite person with a big heart. She was very special person.

So sorry for your loss, Eileen was a wonderful woman, I went to the visitation of her daughter to also see Eileen and Debbie, but didn't get to see either and now it is too late. I didn't know she was sick, she will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. Rest In peace great lady.

I worked with Eileen at BTSB in the 70's! She was my supervisor! She was a ver kind and thoughtful person to know! She turned out to be a very good friend to know. Betting Johnny and Tina will be happy to see heavens newest Angel!

Eileen was a very strong women she loved her family unconditionally an opened her house to all..best cook I knew...I'm thankful for her in so many ways...she wasn't just a cousin she was like another mom...she always would listen an never judged...because of certain things I hadn't been able to visit her which mad me sad now she's gone but I know she knew I loved her...RIP in God's arms
