Ivy Hawk Obituary

WHITE HALL — Ivy (Fox) Hawk, 87, of White Hall passed away peacefully at her home, with her family at her side, on March 24, 2018.

Ivy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Lee Hawk of White Hall; five children, Jud (Brenda) Hawk of White Hall, Jill (David) Clupper of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jeffrey (Gina) Hawk of Roodhouse, Tad (partner, Jim Braden) Hawk of Shiloh, and Ted Hawk of White Hall; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Hawk, Elisa Clupper (Nick) Thompson, Abby Clupper (Ryan) Miller, Ellen Clupper, Robert (Leah) Hawk and Ashlee Hawk, and Chad Clanton, Donivyn, Tabitha and Nicole Hawk; and five great-grandchildren, Eleanor and MicahThompson, Nolan Miller, and Bennett and Adler Hawk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ethel (Price) Fox; and seven siblings, Maude Cox, Mary Farnbach, Doris Kelly, Loyal Fox, Harlan Fox, Iris Bain and Clarence Fox.

Ivy was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Walkerville Township to Bert and Ethel (Price) Fox. She graduated in 1948 from White Hall High School. She married Donald Hawk, her high school sweetheart, on Nov. 12, 1948. After high school Ivy worked at the White Hall Dress factory from 1948 to 1950, Roodhouse High School as secretary to the principal from 1958 to 1962, and at Hertzberg New Method Book Bindery from 1967 to 1970. She spent the remainder of her years as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ivy was a member of First Baptist Church inWhite Hall. She enjoyed gardening and canning her vegetables through the years. She loved any kind of flower; her favorite time of year was spring, and her favorite music was old-fashioned country - Ernest Tubb, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Ivy was quite the competitor at games, 500 Rummy being her game of choice. She spent many hours working crossword puzzles, researching family history and connecting daily with friends and family on Facebook. Most of all, Ivy loved her family and spending time laughing, joking and telling old stories of her childhood. Her laugh was infectious and her smile and warm kitchen invited anyone who came through the doors as family.

You are invited to gather with the family and share your stories from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Masonic Lodge in White Hall. Cremation and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the many comforting words of condolence offered since her passing. Donations in Ivy's name may be made to the charity or organization of your choice.
