James E. Johnson, 70, of Chapin passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1950, and was raised by John and Dorothy Hatter Brown. He married Sharon Mansfield on May 5, 1997.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon of Chapin; a son, Troy Johnson of Jacksonville; stepchildren, Lance (Tracy) Leetham of Jacksonville and Angela Turner of Muarryville; stepgrandchildren, Quintin Leetham and Evan Dorris; siblings, Ellen (James) Choate of Kennedy, Texas, Bob (Linda) Brown Jacksonville and Steve (Hester) Johnson of Chapin; and a sister-in-law, Diane Brown of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by two siblings, John and Jack Brown.
James was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville with interment at Chapin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.
