Havana - Joanne Lukeman, 90, of Havana passed away at her home at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. She was born on May 27, 1932 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Ernest and Dorothy (Taylor) Duncan. She married Thomas Lukeman in Jacksonville on July 27, 1959. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2022. Joanne is survived by her children, Bob (Jean) Hill, Diane (Larry, deceased) Hardwick, Brad (Debbie) Hill, and Connie (Nick) Lukeman-Alston; grandchildren, Dustin (Joy) Hardwick, Dana (Matt) Bangert, Katie (Chris) Grant, Audrey (Franz) Seyerle, Tyler (Candace) Hill, and Andrew (Claire) Hill; ten great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Bob Duncan, and son-in-law, Larry Hardwick and daughter in law, Billye Gaye Hill. Joanne graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1950. She worked for the Jacksonville City Clerk's office and the Illinois School for the Deaf. Joanne was active in the community and interested in politics. She served as president of the Morgan County Republican Women's club and was active in various charities. Joanne and her husband enjoyed traveling to visit family in Tennessee, Florida, South Africa and California. They lived their last 20 years at Matanzas Beach where they loved visiting with their grandchildren and socializing with their neighbors while enjoying the beautiful views of the lake. Per Joanne's wishes, her body has been donated to SIU School of Medicine for research and no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Joanne's name to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org . Family and neighbors plan to plant a tree in her memory at Matanzas Beach. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
