Layne McGinnis
Jacksonville - Layne Hayden McGinnis, 63, longtime resident of Jacksonville, Illinois, passed away at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on November 3, 2025.
He was born on October 26, 1962, at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., to Carroll and Marian J. (Deitrick) McGinnis.
He is survived by his mother, Marian Deitrick McDonald of Jacksonville; one brother, Shaun (Christine) McGinnis of Florida; one stepsister, Rachel McDonald of Florida; two nephews, Michael (Jordan) McGinnis and Steven (Lauren) McGinnis, both of Florida; two great-nephews, Erik and Eivin; and one great-niece, Emma. Also surviving are his aunt, Wilma Werries; uncle, Thomas L. McGinnis; and several cousins, Patricia (Ed) Samples, Jeffery (Lisa) Allen, Les (Sherry) Allen, Karin (Marvin) Murphy, Leslie Howerton, and Brian (Karen) McGinnis.
Layne was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Bernard "Mac" McDonald; and four aunts, Marcia Jean Deitrick, Virginia (George) Delaney, Phyllis Ann (George) Allen, and Ruth McGinnis.
Layne was confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and graduated from Jacksonville High School. He had many interests, especially radios and electronics. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle.
There will be a graveside service held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Concord Cemetery, just west of Concord. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
