Leara Newingham Obituary
Patterson - Leara Elaine Newingham, 84, of Patterson, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Scott County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 18, 1941, the daughter of Hershel and Meda Berg Hayes. She was happily married to Bill Newingham for 60 years, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2017.
She is survived by her children, William A Newingham, Kathy (Mike) Kleidon, James F Newingham; grandchildren, Landon Newingham, Taylor Dean, Kaitlyn Dean, Blake Dean, Devin Dean, Cory Newingham, Kinsey Newingham, Joshua Newingham, Mathew Newingham; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn Sue (Ronald, deceased) Kesinger.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Hayes, James Hayes; sisters, Norma Hayes and Helen Platt.
Leara was a postmaster in the Patterson area for over 40 years. She was also a very talented seamstress, even going as far as making Barbie doll clothes for little girls. She was also a very active member of Sandbridge Baptist Church. Leara enjoyed spending time in her garden, quilting, refinishing furniture, and doing craft projects.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Airsman - Hires Funeral Home of White Hall. The family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sandbridge Baptist Church. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.

I knew Elaine from when I was a child I remember my dad would go to her folks house an watch wrestling Elaine was always so good to me she was a wonderful loving person will be missed. So sorry for your loss

So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers for all She was a sweet and caring lady to everyone. My husband, parents lived in Patterson. Earl and Doris McEvers. We would visit Elaine at the Post Office, often. My heart goes out to all the family.

Elaine was a wonderful soul. Wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always upbeat and a joy to be around. My sympathies to Kathy, Billy, and Jim. You were blessed with a good one.
