Linda Seymour Obituary

Linda D. Seymour, 65, of Jacksonville, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Rubert and Zilla Hughes Turner. She married Daryll H. Seymour on Oct. 27, 1961, and he survives.
She is also survived by her mother of Jacksonville; one daughter, Tamara (Brian) Slater of Jacksonville; one son, Greg (Laura) Seymour of Beardstown; three grandchildren, Serene Seymour of St. Louis, Darrin (Margaret) Seymour of Literberry and Curtis Slater of Jacksonville; four sisters, Nina (Harvey) Edminston of Jerseyville and Freda (Ben) Beerup, June (Edward) McGath and Phyllis (Eric) Freitag, all of Jacksonville; and four brothers, Ron (Carol) Turner of Rockton, Rolland Turner and Gary (Linda) Turner, both of Jacksonville, and Rick (Karen) Turner of Coal City. She was preceded in death by her father; and one sister, Anita Sue Smith (surviving husband, Charles Thomas Smith of Jacksonville).
Mrs. Seymour worked 34 years for Anderson-Clayton in Jacksonville, retiring in 2005. While there, she served as the plant Chairman of the United Way Committee for several years, and was proud they met their fundraising goal every year. She was a member of Literberry Baptist Church, and was a very giving person. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and especially loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Literberry Baptist Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
