Lucille Virginia Shanahan

CROSS PLAINS, Wis. - Lucille Virginia Shanahan, 90, of Cross Plains, Wis., and formerly of Greenfield died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Heartland Country Village in Black Earth, Wis.

She was born October 21, 1925, in Greenfield to Leonard J. and Marcella (Rives) Pranger. She married Kenneth R. Shanahan on April 29, 1946, at St. Michael Church in Greenfield, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2007.

Surviving is one son, Michael R. (Christine) Shanahan of Cross Plains, Wis.; two grandsons, John W. (Shannon) and David P.; a great-granddaughter, Lucy Mae; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Shanahan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Jeffrey E.; and two brothers, Leonard R. and Carlin J. Pranger.

Lucy was a 1943 graduate of Greenfield High School. She worked at Greenfield Farmers Elevator and then was employed at Archer Daniels Midland, retiring in 1994 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the St. Michael Ladies Club, Catholic Daughters of America and American Legion Auxiliary Fitzsimmons Unit #225. She also enjoyed the monthly card club, the Friday morning coffee group, golfing and fishing with her husband and spending summers with her grandsons on their vacations.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at St. Michael Church in Greenfield. Private burial will be at a later date at Oak Wood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Michael Church. Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.
