Nancy Cully Obituary
Jacksonville - Nancy S. Cully, age 86 born, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Dorotha and Kenneth Stapleton, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Jacksonville.
Nancy attended both grade school and high school in Jacksonville, graduating as valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Education and Home Economics from MacMurray College in 1961. Nancy began her teaching career at Northwestern High School in Palmyra, Illinois, where she taught Home Economics for three years, and later continued her teaching for more than a decade at Jonathan Turner Junior High School in Jacksonville, Illinois.
She had a lifelong love of gardening, collecting, and homemaking, and she poured her creativity and care into all she did.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Wayne Cully of Jacksonville, and her son, Carey Cully of Rockford, Illinois.
There will be no formal services held at this time. Memorials may be made out to the Dementia Society of America. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com

Thank you, Mrs. Cully for teaching me how to sew! Your classroom was the place where I learned to choose fabric, lay out a pattern, thread up a sewing machine, stitch up (and rip out!) seams, and always press, press, press! Thank you for helping me acquire a skill that I still use. My sympathy to your family, as you move on to a better place.

I fondly remember Mrs. Cully from Home Ec at Jonathon Turner Junior High. Her expectations were high but we learned how to do each task well and still have fun doing it. Rest in peace, Mrs. Cully. My sincere condolences to Wayne and Carey.
