Ronald Heimlich Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Kent Heimlich, 79, of Jacksonville, passed away on April 23, 2016, in Lakeland, Florida.

Ron was born on Sept. 27, 1936, in Jacksonville, the son of Edgar and Agnes Heimlich. He married Teresa Duncheon on Aug. 9, 1958, and she survives.

He is also survived by one daughter, Julie Heimlich Curtis of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Michael (Clare) Heimlich of Colleyville, Texas, and Kenneth (Yvette) Heimlich of Altamonte Springs, Florida; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Curtis and Rachel (Rowdy) Francis of Atlanta, Georgia, Luke Heimlich of Burleson, Texas, Courtney, Nicole, and Michael Heimlich of Colleyville, Texas, Brendan and Bryce Heimlich of Altamonte Springs, Florida, and Joey Heimlich of Jacksonville; his daughter-in-law, Beth Heimlich of Springfield; his sister, Francis Lynn of Morton; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Stephen; his parents; and his brother, Warren.

Ron graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1954. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-57, after which he went on to earn a degree in engineering from Tri-State University. Ron retired from Illinois Valley Paving in Winchester, and in 2012, he and Terri moved to Lakeland where she still resides.

Ron enjoyed the company of his family most, as well as woodworking, golfing, and playing cards at the Elks. He was a longtime volunteer at Passavant Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Elks Club or Make-A-Wish Foundation (wish.org.) Condolences may be left online at airsman-hires.com.
