Wilma Werries
Jacksonville - Wilma Werries, age 91, of Jacksonville, Il. died Friday (January 9, 2026) at The Grove in Jacksonville, Il.
She was born March 11, 1934, in Jacksonville, Il. daughter of the late Harold and Marie Parlier McGinnis.
She is survived by her brother, Leland McGinnis of Jacksonville, Il.; nieces and nephews, Leslie Howerton of Jacksonville, Il., Karen Murphy (Marvin) of Clinton, Il., Brian McGinnis (Karen) of Jacksonville, Il. and Shaun McGinnis (Chris) of Florida.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll L. McGinnis, a nephew Layne McGinnis, her niece's husband, Michael Howerton, and a sister-in-law Ruth McGinnis.
Wilma worked in the office at Passavant Hospital, moving to the new hospital in 1952. She also worked in various banks in the area including, Chapin State Bank, Farmers & Traders State Bank in Meredosia, First National Bank in Jacksonville, and American Savings and Loan in Jacksonville.
Private burial will take place in Arcadia Cemetery near Jacksonville, Il. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arcadia Cemetery or P.A.W.S of Jacksonville and sent to Williamson Funeral Home, 1405 Lincoln Ave. Jacksonville, Il. 62650. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
