DIXIE IVEY WILKINS
WILMINGTON — Dixie Ivey Wilkins, 88, of Wilmington passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.
She was born in Dillon County, S.C., on Sept. 20, 1929, to Gaston Ivey and Julia Walker Ivey.
Dixie was a longtime faithful member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church, where she was very active serving the church, including the WMU, where she served as president, and traveled with many mission tours over the years including South Africa, The Holy Land, and Alaska. She was retired from Bell South phone company with 43 years of service. Prior to moving to Wilmington she lived in Lumberton, where she was a member of Zions Hill Baptist Church and worked for Bell South.
Dixie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Henry T. Wilkins; a daughter, Gloria Goff; two grandsons, Brian Allen, and Matthew Goff; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Allen and Jacob Allen.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, followed by the funeral services at Wrightsboro Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tommy Bridges and Rev. Mike Lewis.
Burial will be in the New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton at 2 p.m. on Thursday officiated by Rev. Jimmy Brown.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1515 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C., 28403.
