Dorothy Jones Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Jones was born on August 31, 1937, in Matador TX, to George and Violet McMahan. After high school she moved to Plainview, Texas, where she met and then married Ken Jones on January 1, 1957.

Dorothy was a homemaker and very involved in the PTA, and all the school, church, and sports activities of her children. She and Ken attended 9th and Columbia Church of Christ, where she served the Lord in many ways. As a farmer's wife, Dorothy had the opportunity to perfect her cooking and baking to her family's delight. In time, Ken and Dorothy purchased a cabin in New Mexico where many friendships and memories were made. They also owned and operated Plainview Battery for several years.

Dorothy was known for her love of people and knowing how to make them feel special. She never met a stranger and touched the lives of everyone she met. In 2003, Dorothy and Ken moved to Matador, Texas, where she continued to love and serve others. They attended Matador Church of Christ during their years in Matador, where many wonderful friendships were made. Ken passed in 2015, and Dorothy made the move to Burkburnett, Texas in 2019 to live near her daughter. On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Dorothy passed from this Earth.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken; a brother, Roy McMahan; and a beloved brother-in-law, Kuehn Faulker.

She is survived by her three children: son, Rick Jones and wife Tami, of Lubbock, TX; son, Tim Jones and wife Patti, of Edmond, OK; and daughter, Cristi Blackwell and husband Duward, of Burkburnett, TX; five beloved grandchildren, Traci Schmidt and husband Jay of La Grange, TX, Hayley Bigham and husband Caleb of Tulsa, OK, Austin Wofford and wife Morgan, of Lubbock TX, Ian Blackwell of OKC; and Tanner Jones and wife Kenady, of Edmond, OK; eight great-grandchildren, Oliver, Eleanor, and Danielle Schmidt of La Grange TX, Eli and Riley Bigham of Tulsa, OK, Hagan and Hallie Jones of Edmond, OK, and Lyla Craddick and Nellie Wofford of Lubbock TX; two sisters, Wanda Faulkner of Matador TX, and Sherry Scott and husband David, of Dumas TX; a sister-in-law, Gloria McMahan, of Dumas TX; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members that she loved very much.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Midwestern Assisted Living and Hospice of Wichita Falls, for the outstanding love, care, and support they provided for our precious Mother, Dorothy.
