Gloria J. Thomas

1944 - 2025

Gloria Jean Thomas passed away peacefully on October 9,2025 in Seguin, Texas after a long illness. She was born to Maurice and Quessie Hill, on January 30, 1944, in Plainview, Texas. Gloria was dedicated to loving and caring for her family all her life. She loved all her children and grandchildren passionately. Gloria was a woman of sincere faith and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She prayed diligently for all her family and always kept them close to her heart.

Gloria was a very talented artist and painted oil paintings, pastels, craft projects, ink drawings, and many bronze sculptures. She would create and work on projects patiently for months. Many of her creations are displayed across the nation in houses and places of business. Gloria loved to take old furniture and decorative pieces and refurbish them. She surrounded herself with antiques and memories of a simpler time of life.

Gloria loved to garden and feed her family with fresh garden food on the farm. She loved growing flowers and decorating her yard beautifully for most of her life. Gloria loved to help create beauty and she shared this with those she loved. Her favorite song was always "In the Garden."

Gloria had a passion for knowing about her family history, and she spent many hours researching her ancestors. She loved to spend time visiting with her grandparents about their past and how they lived. Gloria took trips across the nation to find places her ancestors had lived and even took time to research her family in libraries and courthouses. She valued her family history and compiled this information together in books to pass on to her children and grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her three children Brad and his wife Brenda Huckabee of Plainview, Texas, Tammy Perkins of Seguin Texas, and Kevin and his wife Tammy Huckabee of Seguin Texas. A sister, Janice Daniel, and her husband Robert of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Huckabee, her husband Cordus Thomas, her parents Maurice and Quessie Hill, her brother Clifford Hill, her sister Judy Short, her grandson Michael Huckabee, and great granddaughter Hannah Kennedy.

A memorial service will be held on October 25, 2025, at 10 A.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel, 3605 SW 3rd in Plainview, Texas. Interment will be at Kress Cemetery in Kress, Texas following the service.
