Henry Watson Obituary
Henry Lee Watson, a loving husband and devoted father, left this life to join his Savior and family in Heaven on Wednesday, November 26th. After a brief illness he passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Lubbock, TX, surrounded by his immediate family.
Henry was born on August 17th, 1936, in the family dugout home in Hooleyann, Texas located in Hardeman County. He attended school in Quanah, TX and upon graduation was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served two years of active duty. After his military service he moved back to Quanah where he met and married Barbara Janell Watson, beginning a 64-year union of unmatched love and devotion.
Henry worked his entire life in the cotton industry in a variety of roles. He was involved in all facets of the cotton industry, from driving a tractor to managing warehouse and compress operations. His career led the family to move around west Texas, living in Stanton, Floydada, Plainview, and Lubbock. He continued to work up until his final days.
He loved sports - golf, basketball, baseball, football and especially rodeo. He enjoyed traveling, and trips to Ruidoso to watch the horse races.
Henry Watson was a man of humor, character, integrity and unending love. His friends and family will miss him dearly. He was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone he met, and that person typically left as a friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Dorothy Watson, and his sisters LaVada Bradley and Sue Hinkley. He is survived by his wife Janell Watson of Lubbock, his brother Howard Watson of Dekalb, TX, his daughter Tammy Bean of Lubbock, his son Lance Watson of Tulsa, OK, his grandsons Tyler and Dylan Bean, his granddaughters Rylie Calhoun, Ramsie Watson and Reese Watson, and his great-grandson Shepard Bean.
