Irene Henderson Mason OKLAHOMA CITY - Services for Irene Henderson Mason, 88, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Canadian, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Meller officiating. Burial will follow in Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Mason passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Oklahoma City. Irene was born July 21, 1919, in Red Lands, Okla., to the late Mr. Charles Pittman and Mrs. Dora Pearl (Bell) Pittman. She was a 1936 graduate of Idabel (Okla.) High School. She graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in elementary education. She married George Henderson on Aug. 19, 1939, in Idabel, Okla. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1987. She later married Marvin Mason on March 14, 1993, in Donna, Texas. Irene was a school teacher for 22 years in Allison, Texas. She was a member of Gem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, David and Charles Pittman; and one sister, Margaret Epton. Irene is survived by her husband, Marvin Mason of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Linda Hutcherson and husband Dewey of Plainview, Texas, and Sandra Steele and husband Terry of Herndon, Va.; one sister, Elizabeth Kirkendall and husband James of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
